Can There be Safer Alternatives to Cosmetic Dermatology, Dermabrasion, and Face-lifts?

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Lopa Bhattacharya Since the introduction of cosmetic dermatology, dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons have claimed to include refined procedures that are able to reduce the visible signs of aging and sun damage and to tone, smooth, and to cure skin imperfections of all varieties. With recent advances in the field of cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic surgeons claim that cosmetic surgeries of face lift, dermabrasion and fat grafting, artificial collagen restoration etc. have become easier and more affordable for more and more people to achieve the perfect looking skin that they crave for. However, case studies made by various natural skin care manufacturing companies have revealed some major pitfalls of cosmetic dermatology. Ironically, in most cases, cosmetic dermatology has turned out to be the most unwelcome disasters that have affected your skin totally with high dosages of chemical drugs. In cases of surgeries of cosmetic dermatology, there has always been the risk of intense bruising and the scars that those leave behind, which even the most sophisticated surgeons have not been able to diminish fully. Apart from the effects of dermabrasion, microdermabrasion and laser resurfacing, Botox therapy and collagen restoration surgeries too have been quite fatal, as far as the safety aspects of the anti-aging skin care is concerned. If you’ve got wrinkles, laugh lines or crow’s feet and are planning ’surface repairs’ on your face never opt for dermabrasion. Although many surgeons would recommend dermabrasion to repair the lines and scars on your face, remember there are alternative options too to get rid of your facial scars. Dermabrasion uses surgical instruments to remove the affected skin layers and may not always prove to be a simple and pain-free solution to your facial problems. Instead, a chemical peel is used more often to treat fine wrinkles. Though surgeons say that there aren’t any recorded ill effects of dermabrasion, those who’ve undergone this surgical procedure know how painful it is. In fact, dermabrasion is not welcome by most people, particularly the older generation, because it is not only a painful exercise, but also need a ‘time-out’ in most cases. Alternative pain-free and safe solutions available from premier dermal therapy product companies help extend cell life and reducing potential ill affects of demabrasion. Today, courtesy the anti-aging skin care manufacturers, a variety of products are there at your disposal that heal almost all ailments mentioned in dermatology science. Some of those not only defy many popular beliefs of dermatology, but also heal old age skin ailments like wrinkles, laugh lines and crow’s feet. This revolution has come as various manufacturers of skin-related drugs have been striving to enrich the science of dermatology by continuously inventing new methods of painless, safe and cost-effective treatment of skin diseases and anomalies for people of all age groups. Anti-aging Process Therapies: These include an endless number of gels, creams and patches that are a superior substitute to surgery and other methods of medication in dermatology. They not only help in stemming the aging process, but also alleviate sufferings of painful surgery among the old age people. While there are transdermal (through-the-skin) therapies like OHT Peptide-3, there are also tanning towels and scar therapy patches that are used by the young and the old alike. Deep Skin Cleansing Therapies: A number of products are marketed that help in deep skin cleansing and return the youthful glow on your face. While On-The-Spot Acne Patches help heal pimples by directing maximum strength acne medicine straight to the pimple - and keeping it there all night long, super-deluxe versions of Deep Cleansing pore strips clean your clogged pores. On the other hand, wart remover patches are a medicated treatment for the fast, effective removal of warts, redefining dermatology in the process! Then there are a slew of discount beauty supply offers, including anti-aging skin care infused with botanicals, anti-oxidants and technologically advanced ingredients that take skin care to a new level. The therapeutic benefits of a skin care cream made from elements of Mother Nature, either in the form of an anti-wrinkle cream or a stretch mark removing cream, are reaching sophisticated women today through websites of natural skin care product dealers. Working as online stores, they offer dry skin care and other skin care remedies in the form of luscious crme masks, herbal lotions and other nature-based therapies with restorative botanicals and animal proteins, improving skin tone and texture and maintaining skin elasticity. While the *Botox therapy, cosmetic peels and micro dermabrasion have been ever-growing obsessions for people with acne, pigmentation, wrinkles and other acute skin problems, the dry skin care cream, anti-wrinkle cream and stretch mark removing cream carry the latest non surgical face lift or face rejuvenation techniques along with full information of their basic natural ingredients. The non-surgical face-lift these products offer is 100% safe, toxin-free and cost-effective to a great extent. What are you waiting for, then? Go for these non-surgical face-lifts to give your skin new life! Thoughtful Woodcraft Plans

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Keith Londrie Wood crafting is a hobby for some, while for others it is a full-time profession. Carefully laid out plans let both professionals and hobbyists pursue their passion towards wood crafting. Well laid out, illustrated step-by-step guide to woodcraft plans is a relatively new phenomenon. Wood crafting is an ancient hobby and evidence can be seen in the remains of legendry Thujate’ Indians and from the excavations from ancient sites. These woodcrafts also followed some sort of woodcraft plans but they were only in the minds of the craftsmen before they took the final shape. They were devoid of modern day sophisticated tools or machinery. Now days, there are many tools that aid the craftsman in wood working. Sophistication has slowly crept into woodcraft, and now woodcraft has grown beyond the realm of pastime activity, and has blossomed into a major industry. Woodcraft professionals across America now have a chance to gauge their skills against fellow woodcrafters. Professional woodcraft plans now describe how to create a wine rack, bookshelf, birdhouse or even a wooden pen-stand that makes a perfect gift item. Woodcraft professionals keep with them the most sophisticated tools while amateurs can find tools available for rental from a local woodcraft shop. All you have to do is to gather the hardwood of your choice and follow the illustrated instructions in the woodcraft plans. Sure there is always a scope of experimenting and you can add your own personal style to your artwork on wood. Every woodcrafter, amatuers and professionals find that they take pride in their work. You can search the Net, and buy excellent woodwork plans that can unleash your workmanship for as little as $10. Get the tools as described in the woodcraft plans and strictly follow the safety measures. You are working with sharp objects that can injure your body and dust that can harm your eyes. Wearing tight clothes, shoes, and glasses can help you protect yourself. Amateurs can produce specialized woodcraft items if they are consistent in following the instructions given in the plans. Beginners can use the woodcraft items to decorate their patio, living space or can give it as a personalized gift. Be creative with your wood crafting, get the best of plans and sharpen your chisels now. The industry of woodcrafting is fun and relaxing. All you need to do is start your first project and trustme, you will be hooked. I know I was! Keith Londrie II is a well known author. Guidelines Of Doing Business In China

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Alina Hoon In the last two decades, no country like China has received so much coverage worldwide. Their economy expansion has attracted many foreign investors who want to get a piece of the growing economy. Furthermore, with regard to the WTO, China has been relaxing their restrictions on foreign investments regulations. This actually indicates that the government is supporting foreign investors to enter into the China market. China is placing more importance to the quality rather than the quantity of foreign investment. This shows the development of the China market where they are focusing on refining their economy as they expand further. The growth of the China market is increasing as such a high speed that the number of foreign companies is flocking in each year. From 2001 till 2005, China has attracted 345.6 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment more than the 323.3 billion dollars that poured in over the nine years from 1992 to 2000. China markets appeal to foreign investors are growing at such a rapid rate that Chinas economy is no longer just a production factory. Foreign companies are entering into China not only to produce their goods but also to selling their products to the local consumers. However, entering the China market needs a lot of tactics, networking, and familiarities. 1. Tactics Many of the foreign investors who enter into the China market have a huge amount of experience in business administration and marketing strategies. However, the Chinese have a different way of doing business and most foreign companies do not have the correct tactics to deal with things in China. 2. Networking Most people would agree that networking is very important for business dealings. With a strong network, we will be able to seek for help or consult someone if any problems were to occur. In China, networking or guan xi is one of the main methods which the Chinese use. Guan xi is the Chinese term that the locals use. The Chinese believe that everyone needs to establish good relationships with others. The only way to really survive in China is through guan xi. Foreign investors may think that as long they have good business relationships with other organizations would lead them to be successful in China. However, this is only partially true. In China, any kind of relationships are important. Be it a personal or business or even governmental relationship, all of them are crucial in establishing a successful enterprise. With good personal guan xi, the Chinese can rope in people whom they can trust into their business. The Chinese believe in having trust among their counterparts. With good business guan xi, the Chinese would be able to negotiate easily and collaborate with others to ensure a lasting partnership with other parties. Having business guan xi would allow the local companies to meet more clients and suppliers to expand their business. With good governmental guan xi, the Chinese would be able to settle their bureaucratic and administrative work faster as their contacts would be able to advise them on a personal level. Furthermore, any problems encountered with the paperwork, the Chinese would be able to seek help through their governmental relationships. Thus, the Chinese value relationships very highly and even though their business with their contacts failed, the Chinese would continue to maintain a close relationship with them. 3. Familiarities To enter into the Chinese market, one must have a good grasp of the Chinese culture. As different countries have their own unique way of values and working styles, lots of conflicts tend to arise due to differences. Thus, the foreign companies need to familiarize themselves with the Chinese culture and understand how the Chinese work. For example, without a full understanding of how the Chinese handle with the authorities can bring a lot of problems to the enterprise. The way the Chinese communicate to the authorities differs from how the way it works in other countries such as the US and Europe. Hence, one of the best ways to familiarize themselves with the Chinese culture is to engage a local individual or firm as the link between the foreign company and the China market. Local parties have the expertise to handle any problems and have a better idea on how to negotiate with the local firms. Alina Hoon is a consultant of Starmass International. New Year Resolution - Part 4

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Tracie Johanson In this five-part series of articles we’ve been talking about New Year Resolutions. In other articles we’ve already covered how to write them, long-term vs. short-term goals and the role of exercise in a resolution. The topic in this article is MOTIVATION! Now that we’ve all created a resolution that is specific, measureable, achievable, realistic and time-bound the question is HOW DO WE STAY MOTIVATED TO ACHIEVE THAT RESOLUTION? As it turns out, there’s no “magic motivation formula” out there. If such a potion existed, someone would be selling it and two-thirds of the United States wouldn’t be overweight! Even though there’s no such thing as a “secret motivational magic-wand”, there are some things we can do to help motivate ourselves to exercise more and eat less. The thing to remember is that not every idea will work for every person. We are all individuals with individual personalities and individual needs! So, what motivates you might not motivate me. That being said, let’s look at some motivation tools that have worked for others…..perhaps we’ll find some that will work for us! 1) Inform your friends, partners and others about your goals and get their support. For some of us, there’s nothing more motivating than a spouse or friend that supports us. 2) Buddy up with a co-worker to exercise on your lunch hour. Hold each other accountable! 3) Write down your New Year Resolution and post it on your ‘fridge. 4) Write down your measurements and/or weight and post it on the ‘fridge. 5) Hang a picture of yourself on the ‘fridge. 6) Listen to motivational tapes - for example, Tony Robbins is EXCELLENT. 7) Get a fitness education by reading fitness magazines and books. Knowledge is power! 8) Hang up pictures of beautiful, thin models as an example of what you’re trying to achieve. 9) Get some “skinny clothes” out of the closet and hang them up where you’ll see them every day. 10) Buy a bikini and hang it up where you’ll see it every day. 11) Keep a food journal, writing down every single thing you eat all day. 12) Keep an exercise journal and record in it your exercise sessions. 13) Talk with your doctor about the benefits of exercise. 14) Research and write down as many benefits of exercise as you can - hint: there are MORE THAN forty! This can be a very motivating process! 15) Draw a picture of yourself at your goal weight. Post it where you’ll see it daily. 16) Promise yourself that you’ll treat yourself to a massage, hair color, or whatever when you lose the first 10 pounds. 17) Get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked by your doctor. Post the results on the ‘fridge and promise to have them re-checked in six months. 18) Join a weight control club like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) or Weight Watchers. 19) Find a friend or co-worker that is also trying to exercise more often. Bet him or her $25 that you can exercise more days in a row than they can! Once you’ve won that bet, do it again by betting double-or-nothing! 20) Take the “fat clothes” that you’re now too small for and GET RID OF ‘EM! Give them to charity, burn them, whatever - just get them out of the house! You won’t need them again! There are just a few ideas that we can use to help motivate ourselves. No single motivational technique will work for everyone, but each technique will work for someone! Good luck, stay motivated, and we’ll see you at the gym! * Copyright 2005 Pick Up The Pace. Gardening Can Be Fun

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Linden K. Walhard Gardening is a lot of fun, and it can be even more fun if you have the right tools to do it with. If you are planning a garden, take a moment to learn about the right garden tools so that you will have the tools that will last long and will make gardening more enjoyable. If you have any kind of physical problems, you especially want to use gardening tools that will assist you. If you have a bad back or knees, or arthritis in any part of your body, you don’t want to bend too much. Get good tools and take care of them properly, and they will last forever. When you go to buy garden tools, try them out. Take each one in your hand and make sure the grip is comfortable and it is not too heavy for you. If you find a tool you like but the grip is too small, you can add padding to the grip. Wider handles are usually easier to handle. To determine the material of the tools, you have to know about your garden. Light materials such as aluminum, plastic or carbon fiber are easy to use, but stainless steel is easier to maintain. Stainless steel may not be as sharp as aluminum, for shears, for example. A Rea solution for many gardeners is to buy one tool with interchangeable tool heads. Now they know they have a grip they love, and they can use it for any tool. These tools can also be used as hand tools. When you are buying secateurs or shears, make sure you get a spring action which is not too stiff, to make it easier to use, especially if your hand are not strong or if you have arthritis. Pruners should have an easy cutting action for both thin and thick branches. If you look for a wheelbarrow, don’t get a cheap one that will be turning in every direction. The classic two wheeled one with long handles is the best. For some jobs, your manual garden tools may not be enough. If oi are going to cut a large hedge, for example, you will need a power trimmer. Just make sure you get tools that you are able to handle easily. You have to decide if you can use a corded tool or need cordless because of where the power is on your house. All too quickly your shed will be filled with garden tools, so be careful about what you choose. You will need forks, spades, rakes, trowels and hoes, kept clean and oiled and ready to go. But you may also want seed sowers, a leaf blower, and weed pullers. Is a watering can enough for your needs, or do you need to install a watering system? All of these purchases will be determined by your budget, how much time you have to spend on the garden, and how large a property you have. But make sure you enjoy your gardening. I can give you a lot of joy and be great exercise as well! Being very excited about battery drills, Linden Walhard was publishing various informative papers on this particular topic. Teak Tables are Durable, and Strong

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By David Foreman Are Your Ready To Speak Teak? Everything old is new again and that goes for Teak as well. This beautiful, relatively care-free and amazingly versatile hardwood was all the rage in the 50s and 60s, especially among Danish furniture lovers, and its now enjoying a rebirth thanks to its many attributes. Teak (Tectona) is a tropical hardwood that grows predominantly in South America and Southeast Asia. The trees reach heights of 30-40 meters (100 130 feet). Although there are three species of teak, Tectona grandis, or Common Teak is the wood that is used for furniture. It grows in abundance and is not considered to be endangered. Knowing the value of Teak to their economy, Asians practice precise and frugal forestry management practices when growing and harvesting their teak for export. Most Teak grown for export is raised on carefully managed commercial forest plantations. The wood is so heavy that in Thailand, elephants are still used to transport Teak lumber from the plantations to the boats that take the Teak lumber to market. Teak is a very popular wood that is used for manufacturing outdoor furniture as well as boats, boat decks, boat hatches, home flooring, outdoor decks and a variety of indoor furniture including bookcases, dressers, tables, etc. Teak is valued by craftsmen and boat builders because it is very easy to work with, is extremely water and insect-proof, and will not easily split, warp or interact with corrosive materials such as metal screws, nails and fittings. The naturally occurring Teak oil is responsible, in part, for the durability of this versatile wood. Because Teak is not a food source for termites, it is especially prized in areas where termites are found in great quantities such as in the U.S. Southern states, Africa and India. Teak furniture, especially outdoor Teak furniture, was once so expensive that it could only be afforded by royalty. It became very popular in England during the Victorian Era of the 1800s where it was found in the gardens and on the patios of only the wealthiest families. Today Teak is affordable but still runs towards the high range of hardwood prices. But its durability, strength and beautiful honey tones, that mellow to a soft grey as the wood ages, makes it worth the price. Teak is easy to maintain. Outdoor Teak furniture should be washed down once per year and then treated with Teak oil. If the wood has mellowed and turned grey, the color can be restored with just a light sanding. But the choice is yours because the wood retains its natural beauty no matter what color it is. In particularly damp or humid areas, Teak will sometimes support the growth of mold. This is easily removed by using a 1:4 water/bleach mixture, rinsing the wood off and then applying several coats of Teak oil after the wood is thoroughly dry. Buying Teak Furniture Because Teak is all the rage now, there are Teak furniture dealers everywhere you look. Be careful when buying your Teak furniture so you dont end up with a Teak veneer piece instead of one made from solid Teak. Reputable Teak furniture dealers will distinguish between solid Teak and Teak veneers but if youre buying your Teak furniture from a used furniture store or from a garage sale, then examine the piece carefully before you plunk down your hard-earned money! If youre in the market for a new patio set, or any sort of outdoor furniture, consider buying Teak outdoor furniture instead of Redwood or that ugly PVC plastic stuff. You might have to pay a little bit more, but youre investment in Teak outdoor furniture will pay off for a lifetime. If you are looking for top quality teak tables you can shop online at http://www.befurnished.com You will find a complete selection of outdoor teak furniture at Befurnished.com including rare pieces like double loungers. Tummy Tuck Recovery and You

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

By Rose Lindy If you are considering having a tummy tuck done, I am sure you are wondering what to expect during your recovery time. You should understand that a tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure, therefore, recovery can take any where from a few weeks to a few months, depending on your overall general health and how well you follow your post operative instructions. As with any major surgery there are things to be aware of and also things that can happen during recovery. Side effects of this procedure include infection, scarring and slow recovery time. If you have a lot of weight to lose, having a tummy tuck is not a magical solution to help you lose it, and any respectable surgeon would refuse to consider any obese person for this type of surgery. The risks from the surgery and anesthesia for instance would be too much for both the patient and the surgeon to consider. Any obese person undertaking this procedure would find their tummy tuck recovery period prolonged because of major complications resulting from the surgery. Other post operative problems to think about are blood clots, chest infections, skin that heals poorly and overall extended healing time. The sooner you are able to get out of bed and move around after having any type of surgery, the faster you will heal as long as you keep your movement with the boundaries set by your surgeon. In fact movement promotes healing. An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, will tighten the muscles and walls of your abdomen. Because of the nature of this procedure it is not for everyone. For example, if you are having a tummy tuck done to try and loose weight then you will be disappointed. You need to loose the weight before having this procedure done. Often people who have lost a lot of weight will have a tummy tuck procedure to get rid of the excess skin hanging from their stomach due to weight loss. Any respectable surgeon will not perform a tummy tuck on a patient who is doing this solely to loose weight. If you are a woman who has recently been pregnant you should wait awhile before surgery. Or if you are planning on becoming pregnant you should wait until you are finished having children before going through a tummy tuck. This is because pregnancy will put a strain on the scar left by a tummy tuck. If you have previously had any type of abdominal surgery, you should not consider having a tummy tuck procedure done because the recovery from the tummy tuck would be compromised. The Top 5 Christian Weight Loss Mistakes

Friday, August 17th, 2007

By Frank Smoot Did you know that a tragic 96% of America’s weight loss efforts end in failure? Even worse, we gain back a heartbreaking 95% of the pounds we do manage to lose! It’s enough to make you crazy! But is it enough to make you take another look at what you’ve been doing? If you’re a Christian with a history of struggling and failing at weight loss, it’s because you’re trying to do things “the world’s” way instead of God’s way. The world’s ways don’t work! Not for life, and not for weight loss, either. I’m Dr. Frank B. Smoot, MA, DD, Christian fitness & weight loss coach. I’d like to share with you a few things I’ve discovered in my years of helping hundreds of real people become weight loss success stories. I found out a while back that people were eager to incorporate their Christian beliefs into their weight loss / fitness programs. And when they did, their success rate shot up dramatically. If you aren’t getting the kind of results you’d like from your weight loss programs, here are five possible reasons why: Mistake #1 - Going To “The World” For Your Solution - The Bible is full of warnings not to look to the world for our answers, including: “.Do not deceive yourselves…the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight.” (1 Corinthians 3:18) When you consider that an astonishing 19 out of 20 weight loss attempts fail, you can see that the $47 billion Weight Loss / Fitness Industry reflects how ineffective the world’s ways really are. God has a much better plan! Mistake #2 - Trying To Solve A Non-Physical Problem With Physical Methods - Simply growing up in the world exposes you to an avalanche of misinformation, half-truths, and outright lies about every subject — includes health-care and fitness. The world tells us that “diet and exercise” are the keys to weight loss success. Yet Jesus gives a very different perspective: “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.” (Matthew 15:11) Would it surprise you to know a major new clinical weight loss study recently discovered that the real, root cause of obesity isn’t what goes on your plate, but what goes on between your ears? Mistake #3 - Living In Fear Instead Of Faith - Living in fear is the opposite of living in faith. You can’t do both at the same time. But fear has many faces, including doubt, worry, and anxiety. All of these create stress, which for 3/4 of Americans leads to “compensatory” eating — which leads in turn to — yep — obesity. Mistake #4 - Not Honoring Your Body - It’s amazing how many Christians consider their physical bodies mere “shells,” and place all their emphasis on spiritual development. Where do they get the idea that it’s OK to neglect their bodies? That’s certainly not what God tells us: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19) Mistake #5 - Now Understanding Why — Or How — To Fix Your “Toxic Thinking” - As I noted a minute ago, the real key to weight loss success is in your mind — in your own beliefs. While the researchers just “discovered” this, it should be “old news” for Christians: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2) Now let me add a 6th mistake that sums up the first five: Not Trusting That He Who Made You Knows What’s Best For You What will it take to get us pointed away from the world and toward the Word? As the Christmas carol “O Holy Night” says, “Long lay the world in sin and error pining” You don’t need to do that any more! “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.” (Corinthians 6:17) May you cast the scales from your eyes and discover God’s timeless truth. I guarantee it will change your waistline — and your life! Peace be with you, “Dr. Frank” Copyright 2005 Frank Smoot Dr. Frank B. A Man’s Guide to Surviving the Engagement Period

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

By Amy Cunningham You proposed and she said yes! Now that you’re officially engaged, the chaos begins. This planning a preparation time often makes you feel as if you want to elope or better yet, ship your fiance off to the funny farm. You can survive this crazy engagement with a little bit of patience and a little bit of romance. Yes, I said romance. At times, it may be the last thing on your mind, but a little extra love and romance during this time will strengthen your relationship and make it even stronger for the future. Read through these 10 tips to help you keep the romance alive during your engagement. Take Pictures — Lots of them! Your fiance is so busy during this time that she’s often not thinking about enjoying the planning process itself. This is where you come in by taking pictures throughout the engagement and wedding planning process. Snap photos at any event that she won’t be present at (your bachelor party, tux fittings, etc). Keep the camera at hand and snap photos anytime you see an opportune moment, such as her and her bridesmaids putting together favors or her and her mom addressing the invitations. After the wedding, put it all together in a photo album or scrapbook for her. Always Agree. Ok, not really. Be honest when your fiance asks your opinion and make suggestions, but don’t be overly picky. If you feel strongly about it, whether it be the reception site, ceremony site, your vows, or even a cake flavor, speak up! Your fiance is likely very stressed during this time, so pick your fights carefully. If you don’t have a strong opinion on something, just go with the flow. Offer to Help. Brides usually start planning right away and generally end up in control of the entire planning process. In fact, your fiance probably purchased a wedding planner the day after you proposed. If you’re deeply involved in the whole process, then you can skip this step. If not, make an offer to help with different aspects of the planning process and then let her take you up on it. When she does ask for help, do everything you can to get it done and make it easy. Stop talking. Ban all wedding talk on certain days of the week. Enjoy a dinner together and talk about what you did during the day, current events, friends & family, a good book, etc. Reconnect and talk like you did before wedding planning consumed your lives. Date Again. Make sure that you ‘date’ like you used did before the engagement. Go out to dinner or see a new movie. You’ll have fun together and reconnect away from the wedding stress. Pamper her. This time period is a whirlwind of highs, lows, and complete craziness. De-stress your fiance with a little bit of romantic pampering. Surprise her with flowers. Set up a sensual bubble bath by candlelight and let her relax alone (or together if she chooses). Just say no to your family. Bickering families are a requirement during the engagement period. Well, maybe not a requirement, but it’s pretty much guaranteed to occur, so be prepared. Set the guidelines, make sure your families are aware of these guidelines, and then stick to them. If you set a maximum guest list number and they try to add additional names, just say no. If they’re unhappy with the dinner selections, cake flavor, wedding location, or anything else, gently remind them that this is your wedding. You may have a little more difficulty with this if your parents are paying for the wedding, but even in that case, set the boundaries up in the beginning to keep disagreements from happening down the road. If everyone plans happily, the two of you will be happier together. Go away for the weekend. Take a weekend getaway together to pick up the romance. Pick a romantic bed & breakfast in a nearby city and spend the whole weekend in bed together. Order in all of your food, watch a few movies, and talking… keep all wedding talk at home though. Words of love. Your engagement and wedding offers many opportunities for expressing your love via words. Write your fiance a letter to open on the morning of your wedding. Add a few love quotes, poems, or phrases that express your feelings for her. Talk to your fiance about writing your own vows. Writing your own vows allows you to personalize your ceremony and express your love to your wife-to-be on the most important day of your lives. Have fun together! If you do nothing else, just have fun. Lighten the mood with a little icing on the nose when you’re cake tasting. Practice dancing to your song together, walking down the aisle, or picking crazy songs for your reception. It’s these types of funny moments that make you remember why you’re doing this in the first place. The stress of planning lasts only a short time, but the fun and loving times you experience are what make the memories that you’ll never forget.
